What is keyword stuffing

Keyword stuffing is a term referring to the web and SEO that means using techniques considered very accurate in order to increase its visibility on search engines.

The term comes from the keyword, which in web marketing and search engine positioning has come to mean “group of words which focuses on the webpage in question” (e.g. ” build a hut, hut building” are examples of keywords for a web page that deals with the construction of huts) and stuffing, mixed or exaggerate.

Techniques keyword stuffing

Among the various techniques used in keyword stuffing we recognize two strands clearly marked:
keyword stuffing fake
Real keyword stuffing

Fake keyword stuffing

This is a technique that consists of writing the web page full of keywords for other issues not related to the theme of the same page (for example, meta sexual) and hidden content is not always related to the theme of the web page, getting lots of visitors thanks to indexation on different topics in search engines, many scale positions in SERP.

Real keyword stuffing

It is less dangerous but still deprecated for keyword stuffing, which involves the preparation of a page by writing a huge number of times the same phrase, the same content that would be well indexed in the SERP. In order not to spoil the look of your page many of these repetitions are often hidden from the ‘physical’ visitors through various techniques.

Techniques to mask the keyword stuffing

To mask these little conscious of attitudes on the part of comely (and inexpert) webmasters are used in most cases as a ploy via CSS that make it impossible for the individual location of these “traps” for search engines.

CSS display

In many places within the web page they are used as a container that has CSS attributes.
Now the engines have learned not to follow the content, it is not visible to physicist users.

Colors quotas

Pages on a white background was used to mask the keyword “too many” by applying only to the container the same color as the background of the page. This technique today is used by the various robots and search engine spiders as they can be easily found.

META tag “clever”

In many web pages up to several years ago it was very easy, by analyzing the source code, find meta tag because the page was viewed in many top SERPs. This technique is now extremely harmful to websites.

Advantages of these techniques

At present, keyword stuffing has become an extremely counterproductive practice for the placement and optimization of a website. Using one of the above techniques there are very high percentages falling into the blacklist of the search engines, resulting in the removal from the SERPs: now the engines have developed techniques to expose many of the most common unethical attitudes of webmasters and thus become totally useless to use these techniques to aspire to solidify its presence on popular search engines.

In addition, related to this issue, we must remember that keyword density and keywords in general have virtually lost all the weight acquired in the late 90’s in the ranking of a web page.
