Internet MarketingInternet Marketing

Internet marketing is the use of the Internet for advertising leading to sales of goods or services. Internet marketing consists of pay per click, ad banners, email marketing, affiliate marketing, interactive advertising, optimizing pages, blog marketing, buzz marketing, product marketing and blogging.

Outline and definition

Internet Marketing is a part of e-commerce or electronic commerce. E-commerce and Internet marketing has become popular mainly due to ever more general access to the Internet. Studies show that over one third of Internet users made purchases online (Devang 2007).

History

Over time, Internet marketing has evolved into something more than just selling information. Today it also sells ad space, programs, business models and many other products and services. Companies Internet Marketingsuch as Google, Yahoo, MSN, Poland – Onet, Wirtualna Poland, BBC News and o2 have set paths in online advertising, and give little opportunity for advertisers, offering local advertising to small and medium-sized enterprises. Return on investment is increased as is the availability of this form of advertising.

This form of marketing is the foundation of modern capitalism, because each allows a good idea, product or service to reach the largest group of arrivals. Methods traditionally used for advertising on the radio, newspapers or television are being replaced by more accessible forms of Internet access.

Currently, the fastest growing form of advertising on the Internet is the so-called Search Engine Marketing or advertising in search engines. Services are mainly provided by Google, Yahoo, and in Poland by Onet and Netsprint allowing small businesses to reach a well-defined group of clients in the geographical area (province, city).

Certain activities, such as viral marketing (of e-PR) may be counted in internet marketing. Availability of these methods has increased mainly due to the ease of implementation and tracking the results of such actions.

The possibility of carrying out a detailed analysis of web sites is now a standard action to investigate the ROI – Return on Investment, the conversion level of sales, etc.
